      Step 1 - Surface Preparation

Clean and smooth the surface. Fill and sand any defects, then apply two coats of white primer.

Step 2 - Mask the Area

Use masking tape to mark the projection screen area for clean edges.

Step 3 - Prepare the Paint

Bring to room temperature and stir well. Do not dilute or add water.

Step 4 - Apply First Coat

Spray a coat using an HVLP sprayer or gravity-fed pot gun. Maintain a 30 cm distance and 50% overlap. Let dry for 4 hours.

      Step 5 - Second Coat & Cure

Apply a second light coat and allow the surface to cure for 24 hours before use.

      Customer Testimonials

See how cinemas, offices, museums, and home theatre enthusiasts use silver screen paint to transform ordinary walls into professional projection screens.

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply – and the customer service was accessible and helpful so I was delighted to give a review for this whiteboard paint and company! As a teacher you try to present as many different ways as possible to teach a concept and having the extra large dry erase wall helped us to teach concepts, facilitate games and student bonding and write instructions. We have no problem erasing everything with a multi purpose sponge eraser! It has been a HUGE learning tool for our classroom and we are forever grateful.

Turning Complex Workflows into Clear Action

At any one time I work on 8-10 initiatives and your dry erase marker paint has enabled me to better visualize what I need to do. It’s useful for brainstorming and process evaluation, so much so that we’ve recently purchased it for our marketing department. It’s a great fit for our company and a 5 start review for whiteboard paint.

      FAQ's

      General Product Questions

What type of projectors are compatible with 3D Silver Screen Paint?

3D Silver Screen Paint is compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors, including HD, 4K, and 8K models with a minimum lumens rating of 3000. It enhances brightness, contrast, and depth, delivering a high-quality projection experience, especially for 3D viewing.

What surfaces are compatible with 3DHD Silver Screen Paint?

3DHD Silver Screen Paint is designed for application on a variety of surfaces, including plaster, wallboards, wood, metal, and composites. It can also be applied to tensioned fabrics for specialised projection setups. But it is not suitable for roll-up screens. Please note that this product is intended for indoor use only.

Is Silver Screen Paint more cost-effective than a traditional screen?

Yes, Silver Screen Paint can be more cost-effective than a traditional screen, especially for large or custom screen sizes.

What is the difference between white and silver screen paints?

Silver screen paint is designed to enhance light reflectivity and image resolution, especially in rooms with ambient light. It is more reflective than white paint, which can help to improve image quality. White projector screen paint, on the other hand, is more suitable for dark rooms or environments with minimal ambient light.

Is a silver screen better than a white screen?

A silver screen is better suited for environments with low to medium ambient light, as it can help to reject that light and improve image quality. A white screen, on the other hand, is better suited for bright rooms or environments with high ambient light.

      Application & Usage

How long does it take to create a projection screen using the Silver Screen Paint?

Typically, the process of application is done over two days. Day one is preparation and priming. Day two is spray application of the Silver Screen Paint; application in one day is possible, provided the first coat is touch-dry before the application of the second coat.

What is the ideal temperature and humidity range of the room where Silver Screen Paint can be applied?

Minimum 12 Degrees to Maximum 28 Degrees with humidity below 80%, which would be considered normal parameters for paint application via spray.

What personal protective equipment should I use when painting?

Wear a respirator face mask as Silver Screen Paint is a spray-applied paint. Use the gloves supplied in the kit while applying the paint. Additionally, you must wear the gloves that are supplied with the kit, and it's also advisable to wear safety glasses. Lastly, make sure that the room is well ventilated, as is required for any painting process.

Can Silver Screen Paint be applied around people?

During the spraying process, ensure the area is clear of people, as the spraying process, like all paint that is spray applied, will create a spray mist which will disappear after a few minutes with ventilation. After spraying the reflective silver spray paint is completed and the area is ventilated, it is completely safe. There is a very low odour during the drying process and the VOC level is low.

      Surface Prep & Priming

Is priming required before applying 3D Silver Screen Paint?

Yes, for optimal performance, we recommend applying 3D Silver Screen Paint to a previously primed or painted surface. Bare or untreated surfaces should be ideally primed with two coats of White Primer. to ensure smooth application and maximum projection quality.

      Cleaning & Maintenance

How do I remove the paint from the skin?

Use warm water to clean the paint.

How can I clean my Silver Screen Paint screen?

Over time, dust can gather on your silver screen paint - use a damp cloth ( water ) with no detergent, and dab the surface clean and allow it to air dry.

      Functionality & Performance

Why are Smarter Surfaces Silver Screen Paints acoustically transparent?

Smarter Surfaces Silver Screen Paints allow sound waves to pass through without affecting audio performance. Testing shows the Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) remains the same before and after application, meaning the paint does not alter the acoustic properties of the surface. It makes it ideal for home theatres, cinemas, and professional AV spaces.

If all Smarter Surfaces products already support 3D projection, why should I choose Silver Screen Paint over them?

The gain value of the Silver Screen Paint is the highest in Smarter Surfaces range by far, designed specifically for 3D projection, because of its unique properties achieved by the silver technology. This means a very high level of light reflectivity without interfering with the polarity of the reflected light, delivering an exceptional 3D experience.

What does it mean for 3D Silver Screen Paint to be ‘Polarity Preserving’?

Polarity preserving means the paint maintains the original polarisation of projected light. This allows 3D glasses to correctly separate the left and right images, ensuring accurate depth and a clear 3D viewing experience.

What is the recommended lighting setup for Silver Screen Paint?

The recommended lighting setup for Silver Screen Paint is low or medium ambient lighting.

What is the gain value of Smarter Surfaces Silver Screen Paint?

Smarter Surfaces Silver Screen Paint has a gain value of 1.9 at 90° and a wide viewing angle of up to 140°. For best performance, it is recommended to use a projector with a minimum brightness of 3000 lumens in low to medium ambient light environments.
